PAC products (Programmable Automation Controller) combine the functionality and openness of PC, the reliability of a programmable logic controller (PLC), and the intelligence of I/O modules with flexible software tools for a wide range of applications from data acquisition, process control, motion control to energy & building management.

PACs comes with different numbers of IO slots to customize your system as needed. They can be x86 based and run Windows or Linux or any other PC compatible OS or be ARM based  (Cortex-A8) and typically run WINCE. PACs uses their slot based IO cards for local IO but they can also measure and control a wider area by utilizing remote IO devices over RS485/LAN (Modus etc)

A PACs gives you the familiar environment of a PC combined to a PLC in one. The 8000 series is older and slower but cheaper while the 9000 series is the latest technology.
